I’ve always been an active person, no so much an athletic one, though. I’ve worked out, on and off, since my freshman year of high school. I’ve done it all; the typical and traditional all cardio regimen, light weights and cardio mix, overloading on carbs (the wrong ones) before running, and unfortunately, but of course, the 3-a day gym rat while experimenting with little to no food, regimen. I always had it in my head that heavyweights and mixed up workouts would give me a manly physique. I’m sorry it took me so long to figure out this was the exact opposite. In 2006, I became constantly sick and I ended up having my gallbladder removed in 2007. Afterwards, my diet no longer consisted of red meats and fried/greasy foods. In my head, I thought, I’m eating healthy and can eat whatever I want as long as my stomach tolerates it. This went on for 3 years. I slowly started working out and started seeing results, just not impressive ones. I was “skinny-fat” and was fine with it… at that moment.

In 2011, I started dating my fiancé. We did what most couples do in new relationships; get comfortable, get lazy, gain weight, start an unhealthy trend, but we were happy! In 2012, our son graced us with his presence. My fiancé and I were rocking the “mom and dad bods” without even realizing it. Everything in our lives was going great, until I realized how unhappy I was. I no longer had the cute little body I had known my whole life, it was replaced with extra, extras everywhere! I no longer felt comfortable in my own skin and was starting to lose vision of the person I was. We decided to make a change, join a gym, and work hard. We motivated each other and worked out together 4-5 times a week. After about 3 months, we both noticed absolutely no change in our bodies and I was getting frustrated quickly. I felt hopeless.

In April of 2014, a couple of good friends of ours opened a CrossFit gym in Tampa. I had only heard the typical bad CrossFit banter and had no honest inkling of what it really consisted of. We decided not to hate something we’ve never tried and in effort to support our friends’ new adventure we dropped in to try it out. The workout was horrible! I pushed me way past any limits I had ever known before. Afterwards, I fell on the ground, searching for a breeze and air, and while having what can only be described as an outer body experience, I realized I was already wanting more! As horrible as I felt, I also felt proud and accomplished for not quitting! I quickly became a permanent fixture in the gym. I was hooked!

In 2015, we relocated to Sarasota. We were so sad to leave our gym and thought for sure we would never find another. When researching local CrossFit gyms; it was overwhelming because there were so many options. The first gym we dropped into was CrossFit Havoc. I was excited and nervous, because well, have you seen our daily WODs?! At the end of our first workout at CFH, we realized that not only had we lived, we had found our new home gym! It was such an awesome feeling!

Our family has been members at CFH for over a year and rarely miss a workout. The amount of progress we’ve made is incredible! I am the happiest and healthiest I have ever been in my life. I have come to realize that I have a true passion/obsession for not only improving myself but helping to motivate and improve other people, as well. When Jim and Natasha approached me about becoming a CF trainer, I was floored! I couldn’t believe that they believed and saw that much potential in me. I am so eager to motivate others. I am so excited to see where training takes me in the future. I know now that this is my calling and can’t wait to help others bring out the best in themselves.
