So I finally feel like I can snatch. It only took me 5 years of CrossFit to feel pretty comfortable with this movement. Some things are just like that. They are a challenge and just continue to be a challenge.
So Thursday I did:
Snatch: Every 30 sec for 5 min @ 90 lbs
Then Snatch Every minute on the minute for 5 min @ 100 lbs (missed one with a Power Snatch which was a 5 lb Power Snatch PR. Cool.)
Then sort of Every 2 minutes on the minute for whenever I stopped. 105, 107, 109, 112 (PR), 115 (PR), 117 (PR)
This is all I decided to do on Thursday. I didn’t want to be too sore for my birthday workout.
I made this workout for my birthday 3 years ago. You see we were open for almost a year before I started coming to the gym regularly and caring about movements. Jim had made another workout for my birthday and after discovering that the Kettlebell Swings and Box Jumps in the workout were not my favorite CrossFit exercises I decided to come up with my own workout.
And here it was:
15 Rounds: 1 Rope Climb, 2 Muscle ups, 3 Handstand Push ups (strict), 4 Power Cleans @ 95 lbs
When I showed it to Jim 3 years ago he was like, “You can’t even do half that stuff.” Which was true. But those were the things I wanted to be able to do and my goal was to RX the workout one day….
Well Friday that day came and I completed the whole workout. It took me 46 minutes but I don’t care. The clock was none of my concern. Just being able to do all of those movements without any scaling was a big accomplishment. And now next year I have to beat my time.
Turning 32. Not so bad. I am doing things that I never dreamed I could do and surprising myself everyday.
